Description

Presented by Housing Innovations

This session will focus on crisis prevention and intervention strategies to assist high acuity tenants in accessing and maintaining stable housing. Many of the people we serve have lived their lives in crisis. However, crisis is de-stabilizing and often puts housing and stable tenancy at risk. This session will discuss different kinds of crisis that occur in housing and the role of case managers and community agencies in the prevention and management of crisis situations. Tools to prepare participants for the expectations of housing and eviction prevention strategies including crisis policies and procedures, mapping of the eviction process and safety protocols will be provided.

The training will also review strategies to develop a participant-driven crisis plan that is integrated with the housing stability plan as well as skill building techniques to use services and connections in the community to address problems as they arise and avoid crises that jeopardize tenancy. Case examples will be used throughout this interactive session.
